Stephen King

Stephen (Steve) is an award-winning lecturer at Middlesex University Dubai. He has lived and worked in the UAE since 2002 and has travelled across the Middle East, Africa and Asia. He has worked on projects focussed on bridging the digital divide for technology giants such as Nokia, Cisco and Etisalat, where he supported corporate social responsibility teams across 17 countries. He has also represented Etisalat on international panels on mobile health and in support of women's rights.

More recently he was a member of the global communications corps, formed by the UN Foundation to launch the Sustainable Development Goals in 2015. Following this he developed a programme to teach the SDGs to professionals and entrepreneurs which he delivered in Amsterdam, Budapest, Geneva, London and the UAE. He has attended the UN DPI Civil Society meetings in 2016 and 2019, and was invited to mentor UN youth at the most recent event in Salt Lake City, Utah. He has recently been joined the Board of Advisors at AIESEC.

He holds a master's degree in Global Governance and Sustainable Development from Middlesex University and has recently co-authored a methodology for evaluating a company or state's sincerity to sustainable development. He also holds a bachelor's degree in Advertising and Marketing from Lancaster University, is a Teach SDGs ambassador, and is a Climate Reality volunteer leader. His advertising students won the Dubai Lynx University of the Year in 2018-19, and in 2019 he was awarded the Middlesex One Award for "Exceptional Contributions to Putting Students First". King is to be included within Provoke Media's Innovator 25, 2020 for the EMEA region.

He has participated in charity boxing events, cycled 2000km across Europe for medical research into diabetes and in support of the Dubai World Expo 2020 bid, and is currently training to Swim the Burj in 2021. He is also a competent horseback rider, and plays the saxophone.
