Lipton Jebel Ali Factory Bags Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum business award for the second time

Lipton Jebel Ali Factory, Unilever’s second largest tea manufacturing unit globally, was named “Best Manufacturing Unit in the UAE” during the 7th cycle of Mohammed Bin Rashed Al Maktoum business awards 2013 awards ceremony, held in Madinat Jumeirah Hotel in Dubai.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 15 November 2013, Lipton Jebel Ali Factory, Unilever’s second largest tea manufacturing unit globally, was named “Best Manufacturing Unit in the UAE” during the 7th cycle of Mohammed Bin Rashed Al Maktoum business awards 2013 awards ceremony, held in Madinat Jumeirah Hotel in Dubai. 

The award was presented by His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai to Ahmed Kadous, Supply Chain Director, Unilever Gulf. Lipton Jebel Ali Factory proved for the second time that it is the best manufacturing unit across the UAE based on: performance, strategic initiatives, leadership perspectives, quality imperatives, corporate culture and corporate social responsibility.

Commenting on this award Arijit Ghose, Managing Director at Unilever Gulf said: “We strive everyday to develop new ways of doing business with the aim of doubling the size of our company while reducing our environmental impact, and increasing our positive social impact. Since its inception, Lipton Jebel Ali Factory has been expanding and investing into people, machinery and technology to become today the world’s second largest manufacturing unit. The factory produces an astonishing 1.2 million tea bags per hour, amounting to a gigantic 6 billion teabags per year. Being the pioneer in its field, Lipton Jebel Ali Factory became the first factory to send zero waste to landfill in the UAE this year. 

The factory also won the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum (MRM) Business Award in the Manufacturing (Free Zones) Category in 2008.It has also received a number of certifications and has been internationally recognized for its standards of quality and consumer safety.
