President of Tajikistan visits Unilever

On Thursday 12 April 2007,  the president of Tajikistan accompanied by a huge (50 plus) trade delegation and senior officials from Dubai government paid an unexpected visit to the Lipton Jebel Ali factory.

The president of Tajikistan with a trade delegation and senior officials from Dubai governmentWhile visiting the state run Aluminum Factory of  DUBAL, also present in Jebel Ali Free Zone, the president recognized the Lipton logo from his car and asked to stop at the factory sited in the Free Zone. The entourage of cars, police motorcycles and official cars suddenly filled the Unilever House parking area and the roads were closed off.

During the visit, the president seemed particularly interested in Lipton green tea which LJU exports to Tajikistan. Lipton factory current exports to 45 different countries across all continents, including Tajikistan.

This is one of the latest high profile visitors to Lipton Tea Factory. Last month Lady Chalker visited the factory, now the second largest tea manufacturing site in the world.
